Randi, since you addressed your heartfelt and insightful email to us "greenies" collectively, I took the liberty of forwarding it to our discussion list, in hopes someone is totally tuned in to this issue and can tell you right off the bat the best target to oppose allowing meat and milk from cloned animals into the food stream. I would have to do some research, but maybe someone already knows.
We welcome your involvement in PV Greens, and green politics in general. If you understand there is more to America than red and blue power politics, your liberal education is not so choppy after all.
We have been active in opposing the war in Iraq, uranium mining and Glade Reservoir. We will be passing out flyers in support of the Fort Collins Iraq Withdrawal Resolution at the Martin Luther King Day march this coming Monday. Gather at 10:45 at the west steps of the Administration Building at the CSU Oval (the stage). After that, we welcome you to our next monthly beer-pizza-strategizing on Thursday, Feb. 14, 7 pm (I know, it's Valentine's Day...) at Nancy York's house, 630 S. Whitcomb St., at the northwest corner of Whitcomb and Oak, Fort Collins, across from the Mental Health building.

Dear Greenies:
All that I know so far about politics is that there has to be a better
way. What I have managed to learn so far in my choppy liberal education
is that the political system is a vast network of power tracing major
arteries and veins of both opinion and money. Who ever falls between
these life-giving lines will inevitably lie either in the same position
with their issues, or will shrivel into silence. Again, my instinct
tells me that there has to be a better way.
I am still young, but I am old enough to understand that these concerns
are not things that I can allow to fall by the wayside. They are
begining to scuff my shell of happily contained existence. I have only
recently begun to think about the implications on future generations. I
am outraged at the state of things and need to begin making a
difference and educating people on the current state of affairs in the
world,the country,and society at large.
The latest issue to scathe my skin was the bill that passed allowing
cloned cows to be used for dairy and meat consumption. This is an
outrage, not to mention stupid. I can explain this to you, but this
email would be rather long. I will spare you until you direct me to the
appropriate area to dutifully and effiecently voice this opinion...
which is, after all, educated and based on facts.
I plan on attending Larimer County Greenie meetings to learn more about
what's going on, but in the mean time, what can I do? Where should I
send letters on these issues?
I hate to see millions of college aged youngsters cast their votes into
the pools of red and blue just because they believe that must be the
only way their decisions will make an impact on the world at large. It
seems silly to me.
I am looking forward to helping with this.
Randi Holland
PS...
Why isn't recycling mandatory yet?
