I read Paccione's remarks in the Fort Collins Coloradoan today. Here is
the excerpt:

"Paccione, who said the nation was misled into a war that has been
mismanaged, says the president needs a new mission with measurable goals
— freedom and democracy aren’t measurable, she said — but she doesn’t
know what that mission should be. “I’m not running for president, and
that’s who gets to decide what that plan is,” Paccione said. “It’s our
responsibility in terms of congressional oversight to demand a plan from
our commander in chief.” The path out of Iraq has to be a political one,
including training Iraqi forces to defend their country and exchanging
U.S. forces one-for-one, not a military solution. “We are not going to
fight our way out of there,” said Paccione, who believes Secretary of
Defense Donald Rumsfeld should be replaced."

These remarks solidify what I have been reading and hearing over the last
few weeks and show that Paccione is no different than any other Democrat.
Additionally, Paccione's website does not have a position on Iraq. The
word "Iraq" does not even appear on the "Issues" page of her website.
This is pathetic and I am offended that she expects to win the
progressive vote in our region with this kind of campaign.

The Democratic Party is a right wing party --- the left cover of the
single political party we have in this country. If Paccione, wants to run
as a Democrat but shows the initiative to take a principled antiwar
stance, I can support her. If she manifests as just another of the pack
of Washington scoundrels running this country, I will oppose her and hope
she loses, as a lesson to future candidates.
