Ritter is a disservice
Lori Colina-Lee
In this year's election for governor, pro~choice has no choice. Bill
Ritter, the Democratic candidate for governor, is anti~choice.
As a registered Democrat, I had (foolishly as it turns out) been under
the impression that Democrats were the party for choice, the party that
would represent my voice, the party that would protect women's rights to
maintain control over their bodies and their health, the party that would
support reproductive freedom and access to safe and legal abortions. I
certainly wish I had been aware of Bill Ritter's position on choice
before I donated to his campaign. I certainly feel misled, and I won't
make the mistake of endorsing an anti-choice candidate by voting for him.
I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I want a candidate who
will stand up for my rights. The right to reproductive freedom is a
fundamental issue. I have no interest in seeing women's health care
return to that of the 19th century. I think the Colorado Democratic Party
has done a disservice to the people of Colorado by not giving us a
candidate who will stand up for a women's right to choose. What kind of a
choice is no choice? The people of Colorado deserve a choice for choice.
